Always confirm his credentials, and ask to see his/her medical or health certification, title, diploma. All of them signed by a reputable University, college, school.
Make sure the medical or health service provider has a good reputation through out the years of his/her career.
Avoid who ever promises you a “miracle cure”. There is no such thing anywhere in the world
If you are using the Internet for research, follow the guidelines for verifying information to make sure it is credible and reliable.
A professional world class medical or health provider always will answer all your questions and will let you know when he or she is not capable to help you with your illness because it is not his specialty or it not his expertise, then he will refer you to the proper medical doctor.
While Grey’s Anatomyis still one of the best medical dramas in history, there have been many instances of medical and surgical errors and mistakes that cannot be overlooked, at least not by me nor any medical health provider.
Other mistakes, however, are so blatant that it is impossible to look away.
And while I am totally in love with the characters and their lives, I can’t help but notice there are some serious but hilarious medical errors in the show.
Nothing that regular folks would notice, but for diehard medical doctor fans like me, these plot holes and continuity mistakes can be, well…funny and annoying at the same time 😉 After all, what fan doesn’t take pride in noticing things that nobody else does?
GREY’S ANATOMY MEDICAL MISTAKES
A. When doing surgery it is extremely important NOT TO WEAR any jewelry of any kind. And you can see the female surgeons in this TV show operating with their earrings on!!!! 😬😨 This is a constant error throughout the seasons. I wonder why the medical advisors of the GA failed on this issue.
B. In order to ensure the most sanitary environment possible prior to beginning surgery, surgeons have to “scrub in” before they enter the operating room.
Surgical scrubbing is the removal of the germs and bacteria as possible from the bare hands and arms. After scrubbing, doctors should keep both hands above waist and below neckline.
Surgeons should keep them in view at all times. Scrubbed hands and arms are considered contaminated once they fall below waist level. On the other hand, surgical gowning and gloving provide a barrier between the patient and healthcare provider.
After that, only sterile clothing and sterile body areas of the patient can be touched.
In some episodes some doctors cross their arms after scrubbing. This is a direct medical NO-NO-NO, as the hands would now be contaminated.
I also notice that Dr. Bailey makes sterilization mistakes: in several episodes she ties her own sterile gown right before starting surgery. She touches others surgeons gowns with her sterile gloves.
C. Now, this storyline alone is pretty hard to believe, but let’s say anything is possible in TV land: Derek tells Meredith to do an MRI on a female patient with a fork in her neck. Ferromagnetic metals aren’t allowed inside the MRI, due to its magnetism. A fork is a stainless-steel item, and iron is its main component. Iron is ferromagnetic.
So, an MRI is magnetic, very expensive test and non-necessary. A regular x-ray would have sufficed.
D. This is hilarious and totally unnecessary: some doctors enter the scrubbing room from the gray area with the hands up! hahahaha, no need to do this, since the hands aren’t sterile yet because they haven’t been scrubbed. Oh jeez, when I watched this I had a good laugh!
E. Another terrible medical mistake in Grey’s Anatomy; the nails of the patients. Patients who are going to be operated on have to have their nails free of nail polish. If the patient’s oxygen levels do drop, the fingernails would turn blue; signaling it to the surgeon, anesthesiologist and surgical nurses that there is a serious problem. But this would be hidden by the nail polish.
Fear mongering Al Gore forecast in 2009 “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.”
Climate change, global warmings, cooling ages, all of them are real and have been for millions of years.
Science cannot be manipulated nor politicized.
Nature is queen, nature wins, hands down, all the time. You lie about nature, you get exposed as a liar. So, it is better that who ever talks about science is in fact a scientist, not a “believer”, or a social media troll or a political sold out guy or gal, like Al Gore and many others who do not know scientific facts and only have a false millionaire agenda behind them.
But Al Gore is not alone in his ignorance. There are millions of “heads” who talk non-sense, and I laugh when I read their speculations and accuse real scientists of “spreading fake news” or “conspiracy theories”.
I have real news for you: the ones spreading the lie that “global warming” is killing the planet earth in the next decade, are fools and ignorants.
It is always better to be on the side of science. “Believers” who cannot prove what they say, corrupt the minds of many and have them dancing at their whim. I feel sorry for people who just follow and admire what some “influencers” of social media say, without investigating scientific facts. I feel sorry for them because the manipulated “scientific” lie hurts them in many ways: mentally, socially, individually and in their family circle.
Powerful political, actors and actresses, business men and women who want you to “believe” in a factoid without having any proof, have in fact an agenda, a billionaire agenda, and the only ones making money are those who promote those false ideas.
I wish to live a long long life to see those hypocrite false-greedy people to come down their pedestal and prove them wrong. Al Gore is the first one to go. There are more and many others to come.

During heart surgery, a highly trained group works as a team.
The cardiovascular surgeon heads up the surgery team and performs the key parts of the surgery.
The assisting surgeons follow the direction of the cardiovascular surgeon.
The cardiovascular anesthesiologist gives you the medicines that make you sleep during the surgery (called anesthesia) and monitors the ventilator, which breathes for you during surgery.
The perfusion technologists run the heart-lung machine.
The cardiovascular nurses are specially trained to assist in heart surgery.
Coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG), introduced in the 1960s, remains the standard revascularization treatment for complex coronary disease.1 The left internal thoracic artery, with its excellent patency when used as a graft, is the conduit of choice for anastomosis to the left anterior descending coronary artery.
“In some ways, what I do is as much art as it is science,” said Dr. Kirshbom. “Some hearts are missing parts or are put together the wrong way. That’s where the art comes in. Many of our operations require literal rebuilding of cardiac and vascular structures. As one of my colleagues says, each child is a custom job.”
Yes, there is always good and bad in all, isn’t? And bacteria is not the exception.
Our bodies have different tissues full with excellent microbes that help us fight the bad ones. It is so important that we take care and preserve this kind, helpful and faithful bacteria, so we can have an army of healthy tiny micro bio-soldiers for the attack of the bad ones when necessary.
In fact, you couldn’t survive without some bacteria! Good ones help digest your food and fight invading microbes. Also, they are used in making some of the dairy products you like to eat and also some types of medicines! It is one of the best decomposers – they break down dead and decaying organic matter, from leaves to insects.
Best of all, it is are being used to clean up oil spills to keep your environment healthy too.
EAT MORE: yogurt, kafir, sauerkraut, tempeh, kimchi, miso, kombucha, pickles, traditional buttermilk, natto and some type of cheeses.
Just like when you want to see a medical doctor, you want to make sure that you are consulting a true qualified graduate medical doctor, don’t you? You want to see his medical license and maybe you check him/her out on the Internet or even call the medical board of your state/country to corroborate that s/he is in fact a physician.
And that is how you should behave when you navigate in the internet, exactly the same way. You should always make sure that the person giving advice has the proper qualifications and professional training in the field you want advise or guideline.
There are thousands of people in social media and all over the Internet that want to make a quick buck, and they use their expertise in advertising to start a digital business promoting health products, physical therapy treatments, “health magazines” that have damaged a lot of people who are desperate for a “cure” and they haven’t found it in traditional medicine for different reasons:
Graduate medical doctors who are not well trained.
Lack of interest by the healthcare provider in the benefit of the patient.
Medical doctors who just care about billing the medical insurance for pure profit.
Physicians who never had an excellent qualified expertise attending patients as a whole.
Physicians who do not keep on studying the newest medical advances and do not keep up to date on medica scientific advances.
Even the most credible information found online is useless in the absence of expert physician evaluation and diagnosis. Tell your doctor you fully trust what you have read online. Email them the article that’s captured your interest, or print it out and bring it to your next appointment. A good doctor will walk you through it.
I was moved by her opinion and her pain of losing somebody in her family she really loved very much. So, as a medical doctor I do agree with several points she makes. She is of course referring to medical doctors in her country (US). I practice in Mexico and she actually praised some medical-biological scientists in Mexico City who, recently, discovered and developed a vaccine to cure the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
So, I left this comment
And I got a lot of people liking my opinion, for which I am sincerely pleased and grateful.
But still, there are some comments directed to me that I find totally cruel, inappropriate and ignorant. Like this one:
Fibromyalgia is not “an imaginary disease”, it is real and it needs to be addressed as such. It is a seriously misunderstood illness, mainly because, as you know, many sufferers may not “look sick.” This is why it is so important to talk about it as a so-called “Invisible Disease,” because not a lot of people nor medical doctors take it seriously.
Clinicians should be familiar with the signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia and diagnose the condition with minimum investigation. Any Medical Doctor who doesn’t know how to detect this pathology, needs to take some courses about how to diagnose it and treat it.
If you are suffering from fibromyalgia, you need to know some facts about it and remember: do not feel shame for feeling the way you do. You can control this disorder and don’t let it over-power you.
Fibromyalgia can be a hard disease to get a diagnosis for since so few people understand it.
It is imperative that we learn and educate our patients, my followers and our loved ones about what fibro warriors go through every day. Let’s take in consideration their suffering and support them fully.
UNDERSTANDING THE ILLNESS:
Patients with fibromyalgia experience body pain that weakens them. There is chronic aching in different points of the body, stiffness and tenderness.
They feel tired most of the time and this makes them nervous, worry and in some cases their blood pressure tends to increase due to the pain and the worryness.
Patients often tell me that they feel their vitality is going away and their strength with it.
Problems for mental concentration start to appear because of the lack of serenity and constant pain that doesn’t go away with pain killers. Yes, the pain, they say, might subside for a little bit, few hours maybe, but it comes back, sometimes in the same area of the legs, knees, shoulders. Some other times it comes back stronger attacking another area of the body.
Patients say “even the skin burns, it hurts so much it is scary”. Patients do hurt, not only physically but mentally, so much that their quality of living begins to diminish. At this time is when this disease -fibromyalgia- causes panic attacks, excessive crying and/or depression.
FIBROMYALGIA IS A DEBILITATING DISEASE
Patients tell me they have problems to go up and downstairs, difficulty to lift up the arms. They feel a burning sensation along the inside of the skin of the legs, the arms, even the back.
They refer to a constant “pain in my lower back”, call lumbalgia.
The cervical spine and both sides of the neck hurt so much some doctors confuse the diagnosis with torticollis and prescribe medicine for it. Of course, the patient might feel some relieve for a day or two and then the pain comes back.
Muscles, tendons, ligaments and skin burn and hurt, making the movements of all the parts of the body strenuous, walking and daily activities very arduous and depending on the gravity of the illness, even impossible.
…include headaches, lose of strength in the hands to hold objects, which they fall off their hands: “Things just fall off my hands. It’s like my muscles don’t have strength anymore”.
Tripping on is more common, clumsiness, general discomfort. Sometimes patients lose balance and fall backwards or forward.
ORIGINS OF THE FIBROMYALGIA
This illness has multiple causes and factors. Usually a very stressful childhood, child abuse of any kind.
PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) of any origin: soldiers who come back from war, a stressful or violent marriage, separations, forced immigration, traumatic abandonment of any kind, the loss of loved ones, even the loss of a limb can trigger this syndrome.
THE PATH TO RECOVERY
Recovery is possible. Taking control of your life is absolutely needed to achieve this goal. You can be happy and pain free increasing the quality of your life.
