Famous Birthdays February 8 th Have Fun!

FAMOUS BIRTHDAYS ON THIS DAY:

I hope you like my choices for today’s “Famous Birthdays”. I included  some interesting data about Dmitri Mendeleev. He arranged the chemical elements and put together what we all know now as The Periodic Table of Elements.

Dmitri Mendeleev  – Inventor of The Periodic Table

Dmitri Mendeleev, Russian in full Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev, (born January 27 (February 8, New Style), 1834, Tobolsk, Siberia, Russian Empire—died January 20 (February 2), 1907, St. Petersburg, Russia), Russian chemist who developed the periodic classification of the elements. Mendeleev found that, when all the known chemical elements were arranged in order of increasing atomic weight, the resulting table displayed a recurring pattern, or periodicity, of properties within groups of elements. In his version of the periodic table of 1871.

IMPORTANT NOTE from Dr. Castro:

Please don’t assume that I am a Democrat or Republican just because I write or mention my admiration about certain people who are registered as such. I am neither. I hold no rigid political affiliation.

I admire the human being, no matter his/her political affiliation, religion or lack thereof.

I am a true freedom thinker who do not like labels. I don’t follow hypocrites. I admire what I think it’s admirable to me, and criticise what I sincerely think has to be denounced as a bad policy, error or a crime.

Future of Healthcare is in the Digitization and Digitalization in Medicine for Diagnostics

Future of Healthcare is in the Digitization and Digitalization in Medicine for Diagnostics 4

AR (Augmented Reality) is the future of computing, truly. It transcends traditional computing with 2D monitors, mouse and keyboard – and takes us into spatial computing, with 3D holograms and more natural interactions. It’s a whole new way of interacting with digital content in the context of the real world.

Future of Healthcare is in the Digitization and Digitalization in Medicine for Diagnostics 5

Although there are several forms of AR such as mobile and smart glasses, the most advanced and powerful is immersive AR, which is defined as photorealistic, high-resolution, life-size holograms wrapped in a natural interaction paradigm using direct hand manipulation and voice commands. Immersive AR has immense potential to change how we communicate, collaborate and create… enhancing our human interaction in the process.

Future of Healthcare is in the Digitization and Digitalization in Medicine for Diagnostics 6

Healthcare is one of the primary verticals in AR with the most to gain. In healthcare education, medical schools are starting to train a new generation of healthcare professionals using interactive 3D anatomical models – reducing the need for cadavers and significantly improving training and comprehension.

Future of Healthcare is in the Digitization and Digitalization in Medicine for Diagnostics 7

With immersive 3D medical imaging, AR can assist with everything from diagnosis, to patient communication, to collaborative pre-operative planning, to the surgery itself, where 3D MRI/CT scan is overlaid onto the patient. The benefits of 3D medical imaging go well beyond providing high financial value – they represent the future of care-giving.

One of my Many Pet Peeves Troop vs Trooper or Soldier

One of my Many Pet Peeves Troop vs Trooper or Soldier 8

English is not my native language, Spanish is. I also speak Italian, Portuguese and I am fluent one hundred percent in all these languages. But I admit that I make typos and several mistakes when I write in my non-native languages, but I always try to learn and speak better, even in Spanish and I am always willing to learn from my mistakes. That is why I am a serious critic of misconduct in expressions in the languages mentioned above.

So here it goes, my pet peeve of today: Troop VS Trooper

I often hear reporters on American TV channels talking about “troops”. The first time when I listened to that word being misused was when the war in Afghanistan was being announced by different TV reporters back in October 2001.

They were mentioning the amount of “troops” that President George Bush was sending. I was astonished! They said ten thousand of them were parting from USA. So I started to make my own calculations and said well, if a troop has a minimum of 3 to 5 platoons;

One platoon has 2 to 4 squads, and each squad has 10 to 14 troopers or soldiers, then a platoon has about 50 soldiers, then a troop has a minimum of 250 men. If President George Bush was sending 10,000 troops then he was sending about 2, 500,000 (two and a half million) soldiers or troopers!

And next week they said more “troops” were leaving to the Middle East. By then I knew how erroneous and non-well educated in their own language they were: when they were saying “troops” they were referring to a singular, to one man, which is wrong.

For some English speakers a “trooper” is a mounted soldier. For others, a “trooper” is a policeman who patrols the roads of a U.S. state in a car.

As to “how a plural word becomes singular,” the answer has to be “by being used that way.”

However, just because a usage is widespread or has been added to a dictionary doesn’t mean that it is worth adopting.

Orwell’s objection to the use of inflated Latin words applies to the use of troop to stand for soldier.

The worst thing of all is that 17 years have gone by and I still hear it and read it. I can´t stop stupidity!

Dr Castro’s Exotic Chicken Salad Recipe with Yogurt

Dr Castro’s Exotic Chicken Salad Recipe with Yogurt

This recipe is not of my invention, I just made it my own by adding more and different ingredients to give it that special flavor that my family (especially my daughter Alexandrea) loves. You have to get Greek yogurt,  Dijon mustard with honey, sweet cranberries and toasted pecans,  since these are the “secret” ingredients that make this chicken salad very unique.

Do you ever get tired of People’s Opinions in Social Media?

I do. That is why I love blogging. Developing a blog is so much more interesting and fun than social media. I have found out that people who do not blog or keep a journal, participate in interesting forums or write articles, become really poor in their process of thinking and their writing capabilities are an atrocity.

FACEBOOK DESTROYING THE THINKER

Do you ever get tired of People's Opinions in Social Media? 11

Blogging requires thinking, knowledge of coding, meta-tagging, and so much more. Some gray matter at work? Have you noticed the level of writing in Facebook? They do not know how to express themselves, they do not know how to write properly. I can’t be close (not even digitally) with people who lack the basic internet etiquette. It is disturbing and my brain cells are too precious for me to waste them in Facebook.

Have you ever talked to a person who only subscribes to social media and asked him or her about blogging? I have, and they are fools, sorry, but it is the truth. They know nothing about inserting coding html, meta-tags, which is so simple to do.

I use social media as what it is: a tool, not as my basic platform to spread word of business not to chat. I only chat with my connections and friends here, in my blog and LinkedIn. I prefer to keep my frontal cortex far away from those social media outlets and just use them as an instant connection thru my main blogging source.

Quality over quantity will bring you happiness and success.

Stunned sea life watchers captured the colorful display being spouted from the animal’s breathing hole.

The rainbow illusion was created as bright sunlight reflected through the fountain of water the animal had expelled into the air, causing a multi-colored spectrum effect.

The incredible event was captured on film as whales swam alongside cruise boats off the coast of America.

Randy McConnell recorded the footage as the ship he was on sailed in the waters off Cape Cod.

He said: “The rainbow came as a complete surprise. I guess I was just in exactly the right place at the right time as the whales came up for air.

“I love wildlife and I have traveled to many places around the world – but this was probably one of the most magical things I have seen.

“You are able to get very close to them and it seems they are just as curious about us as we are about them.”
