Be Happy and Let Others Live 7 times 7

Be Happy to the fullest!

Be happy inspirational quote

Living is an art or is a path to destruction, and unfortunately the lack of love and compassion within the family structure is what triggers so much loneliness, depression and anxiety in many.

We are born, if we are lucky enough, to two loving parents who care about us so much to let us grow into kind, compassionate and successful human beings. But sometimes things go wrong: the family is dysfunctional, parents or children don’t care about each other. They become bitter and depressive, even when they finish graduate or post-graduate school; hey, maybe they even become rich, but no matter what they do in life unhappiness is always there.

Be Happy and Let Others Live 7 times 7 1

These kind of frustrated person is the one that we should not become, it is the type of individual we all should avoid in our lives. They just drain the merriment out of us because it is the only way for them to find “joy”: when others are unhappy or unfortunate.

I would say to them: “Be happy, let others be joyful … let others live”

In Extremis: The Life and Death of the War Correspondent Marie Colvin

Marie Colvin, the headmost war reporter of her generation was killed in Syria in 2012 at age 56 by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). The world of journalism lost a great and iconoclastic correspondent, a fearless female who covered  the most destructive global calamities of our times.

She lost an eye when she was reporting in Sri Lanka at the end of the civil war. She interviewed Gaddafi twice, and risked her life covering conflict in Chechnya, East Timor, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, and Zimbabwe.

Her personal life was highly interesting as it was her professional one: extremely motivated, bold and unpredictable. She married several times, drank heavily, suffered from PTSD and never allowed anyone to box her into what society expects from women’s roles.

Caturday Cats for Christmas and a Poem

A Cat Named Frank – Poem by Marilyn Lott

He is a beautiful kitty cat
Frank is his name
And around the barnyard
He has risen to fame

Not only does he have
A coat so warm and soft
He’s quite the little mouser
Even up in the tall hay loft

He has a certain way
About him, it’s a fact
His personality, my friend
Changes how you react

You fall in love so quickly
When Frank comes into the room
For he takes a lot of time
Out of his busy day to groom

He keeps your heart on a string
And this you can take to the bank
When you become a victim of
A charming cat named Frank!

One of my Many Pet Peeves Troop vs Trooper or Soldier

One of my Many Pet Peeves Troop vs Trooper or Soldier 4

English is not my native language, Spanish is. I also speak Italian, Portuguese and I am fluent one hundred percent in all these languages. But I admit that I make typos and several mistakes when I write in my non-native languages, but I always try to learn and speak better, even in Spanish and I am always willing to learn from my mistakes. That is why I am a serious critic of misconduct in expressions in the languages mentioned above.

So here it goes, my pet peeve of today: Troop VS Trooper

I often hear reporters on American TV channels talking about “troops”. The first time when I listened to that word being misused was when the war in Afghanistan was being announced by different TV reporters back in October 2001.

They were mentioning the amount of “troops” that President George Bush was sending. I was astonished! They said ten thousand of them were parting from USA. So I started to make my own calculations and said well, if a troop has a minimum of 3 to 5 platoons;

One platoon has 2 to 4 squads, and each squad has 10 to 14 troopers or soldiers, then a platoon has about 50 soldiers, then a troop has a minimum of 250 men. If President George Bush was sending 10,000 troops then he was sending about 2, 500,000 (two and a half million) soldiers or troopers!

And next week they said more “troops” were leaving to the Middle East. By then I knew how erroneous and non-well educated in their own language they were: when they were saying “troops” they were referring to a singular, to one man, which is wrong.

For some English speakers a “trooper” is a mounted soldier. For others, a “trooper” is a policeman who patrols the roads of a U.S. state in a car.

As to “how a plural word becomes singular,” the answer has to be “by being used that way.”

However, just because a usage is widespread or has been added to a dictionary doesn’t mean that it is worth adopting.

Orwell’s objection to the use of inflated Latin words applies to the use of troop to stand for soldier.

The worst thing of all is that 17 years have gone by and I still hear it and read it. I can´t stop stupidity!

When Your Patience Wears Thin

When Your Patience Wears Thin, what do you do? Some people do yoga, exercise, some others pray, others get so desperate they yell, behave erratically and dangerously. There is another approach people take: ignore their feelings and put them under the rug.
For starters, there are some persons who are truly patient and can take a lot of bad actions (betrayal, lies, etc) from others without saying a word, but eventually everybody’s patience wears thin, sooner or later. What do you do when this happens to you?

I usually grab my bicycle and go out for a bike ride myself, a long one, with the road full of steep-climbs and difficulty. When I come back I jump in the swimming pool and then relax and by then, my patience is healed.

When Your Patience Wears Thin 5

Spending time in my farm and orchard with my daughter and grandchildren gives me great pleasure. I talk to the birds, plants, my livestock, I enjoy the sunlight rays. Enjoying nature fulfills my heart.

When Your Patience Wears Thin 6

I re-read the Goodman and Gilman Pharmacology book and spend hours creating medical hypothesis and even theories that I have proven right and published.

Do you ever get tired of People’s Opinions in Social Media?

I do. That is why I love blogging. Developing a blog is so much more interesting and fun than social media. I have found out that people who do not blog or keep a journal, participate in interesting forums or write articles, become really poor in their process of thinking and their writing capabilities are an atrocity.

FACEBOOK DESTROYING THE THINKER

Do you ever get tired of People's Opinions in Social Media? 9

Blogging requires thinking, knowledge of coding, meta-tagging, and so much more. Some gray matter at work? Have you noticed the level of writing in Facebook? They do not know how to express themselves, they do not know how to write properly. I can’t be close (not even digitally) with people who lack the basic internet etiquette. It is disturbing and my brain cells are too precious for me to waste them in Facebook.

Have you ever talked to a person who only subscribes to social media and asked him or her about blogging? I have, and they are fools, sorry, but it is the truth. They know nothing about inserting coding html, meta-tags, which is so simple to do.

I use social media as what it is: a tool, not as my basic platform to spread word of business not to chat. I only chat with my connections and friends here, in my blog and LinkedIn. I prefer to keep my frontal cortex far away from those social media outlets and just use them as an instant connection thru my main blogging source.

Quality over quantity will bring you happiness and success.
